Session Title: Let Me Do It: An Innovative Tool for Autonomy and Self-Determination

Session Description: This session will introduce the principles of Supported Decision-Making (SDM) and explore a smart phone application that is user-friendly, person driven and reduces reliance on others to make and implement decisions.

After the session attendees will be able to :

  • Define Supported Decision-Making (SDM) and explain its relevance as an alternative to guardianship.

  • Identify 3 practical strategies to support autonomy and build decision-making skills

  • Explain how the Let Me Do It app can be used as an assistive technology tool to promote independence, support SDM practices, and foster self-advocacy 

About the Presenters:

Dana Lloyd (Georgia Advocacy Office) has been engaged in advocacy with people experiencing injustice for over two decades. Dana currently serves as director of Community Engagement and Outreach at the Georgia Advocacy Office, Georgia’s Protection and Advocacy system. Dana also leads Georgia’s supported decision-making coalition and is a state team lead for the Administration on Community Living’s Center on Youth Voice Youth Choice, a national youth led Supported Decision-Making Project.

Angad Sahgal (LetMeDoIt) is the co-founder of LetMeDoIt, a pioneering platform that promotes financial inclusion, employment, and independent living for people with disabilities through the power of Supported Decision-Making (SDM). A passionate advocate and entrepreneur with lived experience, Angad is the first person with an intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) to lead a Techstars-backed company, having been selected for the prestigious Techstars Impact Accelerator. Under his leadership, LetMeDoIt has launched partnerships with credit unions, healthcare providers, and government agencies to ensure that people with disabilities and their support networks can access actionable tools for budgeting, banking, and decision-making.

Amit Sahgal (LetMeDoIt) is a purpose-driven innovator and advocate for inclusive technology, co-founding LetMeDoIt alongside his son, Angad, to empower people with disabilities through economic engagement, equitable healthcare, and social inclusion. Before embarking on this journey, Amit had a distinguished career as a senior executive at The Coca-Cola Company. Amit is dedicated to leveraging technology to break cycles of poverty, dependency, and isolation. His ability to merge corporate expertise with social impact has positioned him as a thought leader in leveraging business solutions for societal change.
