Tech First Talk - Session 24 - Beyond the Need: Enabling Technology for the Whole Person and the Whole Team
Session Title: Beyond the Need: Enabling Technology for the Whole Person and the Whole Team
Session Description: A good approach to implementing enabling technology rightfully places an individual’s needs and goals at the center of any solution. However, many other factors play into any technology program's success, including staff and provider training and expertise, the changing needs and goals of the individual, and the technology’s own durability and flexibility. What are the key questions to ask when selecting technologies that serve the individual while also meeting the needs of other stakeholders? This session will explore this topic from multiple perspectives, from the on-the-ground clinician to provider leadership, as well as case management and state agencies. We will illustrate with concrete examples from BoundaryCare’s own product design decisions and share tips and best practices from providers, agencies, and waiver programs we’ve worked with across the country.
About Paul: Paul Carpenter is the co-founder and CEO of BoundaryCare, a platform that uses real-time data and thoughtful design to help individuals gain and maintain independence while relieving stress from their caregivers. Paul spent over ten years working as an engineer at top technology companies until his own family’s experiences pushed him to tackle the challenges of caregiving head-on. At BoundaryCare, he applies the same user-centric approach drawn from his technology background to power his goal for making BoundaryCare the most inclusive and comprehensive solution for individuals, families, and providers.
